If you're wondering how to meal prep smoothies, you've come to the right place. Smoothies can be a great way to get the nutrients you need. They're perfect for on-the-go in their drinkable form. Learning how to meal prep smoothies will save you time, money and will enable you to maximize your nutrient intake.
We've come up with 3 ways that will make the most out of your super fresh and perishable Copra products, which can only be defrosted once or twice maximum. Whether you're incorporating smoothies into your meal prep day or new to meal prep in general, choose the way that works best for you. Feel free to customize depending on the recipe and materials available.
1. Freezer Smoothie Starter Packs
This option is great for fresh produce on the cusp of going bad that you don't want to waste! Frozen + fresh produce both work for this, just no liquid ingredients (add those when you're ready to blend).
You will need a freezer-safe container for this. We recommend stash baggies or mason jars, both are reusable! These smoothie starter packs allow you to prep your smoothie flavor combinations ahead of time.
- Prep non-liquid ingredients as usual e.g. cut celery or other produce in manageable sizes for your blender.
- Place prepped ingredients to fit in a freezer-safe container, seal tightly, and freeze for up to 5-6 months.
- When you're ready for a smoothie, toss your smoothie pack in the blender. Add ingredients with liquid consistency like coconut water. Blend and enjoy!
Suggestion: for super fresh frozen ingredients (like our young coconut meat) that can only be defrosted twice maximum, try to partially defrost enough to gather the amount you need.
2. Blend + Freeze
This option definitely has the most flexibility for fun choices that even kids will love! This option leaves you nothing short of freezer-safe choices for creative ideas. The inspiration started with the class mason jar, but continued as we found these fun push up pop sleeves.
- Prep non-liquid ingredients as usual e.g. cut celery or other produce in manageable sizes for your blender.
- Blend prepped ingredients + any liquid ingredients in a blender.
- Pour into a freezer-safe container, seal tightly, and freeze for up 2-3 months. Enjoy!
Suggestion: If you're loving the blend + freeze option, consider investing in silicone molds. This will also enable you to create some blends like coconut water + coconut meat, freeze in smaller portions and then use those as ingredients in future smoothies as well to minimize prep. The possibilities are endless!
3. Blend + Refrigerate
This option has the shortest shelf life of only 2-3 days. So, feel free to whip out your swell without worrying if you'll see it again in the near future. Again, mason jars are great for this as well if you don't have a particular preference.
